Governance

The BCPSEA Constitution and Bylaws specify two types of governance events:

Annual General Meeting

Activities at the Annual General Meeting include reports from the Chair and CEO; nomination and election of trustee directors to the Board of Directors; consideration of proposed ordinary and special resolutions submitted by school districts including proposed amendments to the bylaws, if any; and updates on current labour relations/human resource matters.

Representative Council
During years when collective bargaining is scheduled with the BC Teachers’ Federation, a Representative Council is held to discuss bargaining objectives. The Representative Council also approves the annual budget of the association.

Professional Development
 Programs

BCPSEA has developed a series of professional development programs to deliver innovative, accessible, high-quality learning opportunities to meet districts’ needs in the dynamic area of human resources/labour relations. The learning opportunities are divided into two general categories:

Awareness and Information: sessions designed to provide participants with information and resources about a particular topic.

Programs for Practitioners: these full day technical workshops are designed to provide hand-on skills training in a particular area.

Awareness and Prevention of Harassment Training – Now Online!

We also offer district-specific training in labour relations and human resources topics upon request.
